This is the anniversary of what  famous song?   On May 24, 1830, "Mary Had a Little Lamb" was written.   I remember singing it, perhaps in first grade, and then pasting cotton on a picture of a lamb to take home to my mom.  Print one out for your youngster to make on a rainy day at dltk-kids.com

Here's some of my favorite alternate versions:

1.
Mary had a little lamb, a lobster, and some prunes.
A glass of wine, a piece of cake, and then some macaroons.
It made the waiters frown a lot,
To see her order so.
And when they carried Mary out,
Her face was white as snow.

2.
Mary had a little lamb,
With green peas on the side,
And when her escort got the bill,
The poor bloke nearly died.
