From the newly published translation of Elena Poniatowska's book, "Here's to You, Jesusa!", a story of a poor Mexican woman's travels through life.  Jesusa, who's had an extremely difficult journey practically from birth in the early 1900's, and has thrived and survived by grit and insistence, states:  "Ah, crying is one thing, but sadness is something else!  It's bad, worthless, it doesn't matter to anyone but you."  Or, as I tell my granddaughter from time to time, "Get over it!", an adage I wish someone had repeated to me a number of times in the first 30 years of my own life.
