Pain, regret, sadness.... sometimes they are inevitable. Son Mark brings to my attention what he terms "one of is one of the saddest things I have seen. It is also very beautiful.
Think about his song as you go about your daily life, and when something negative or hostile comes along, remind yourself, "Life's too short. Let it go." Different genre, but it reminds me of my obsession with Mahler's works when my oldest daughter Elizabeth lay dying. Mahler had struggled in life, and finally reached the pinnacle of success: a loving wife, beautiful children, more financial security than he had known as an early struggling composer, and wide acceptance and popularity of his compositions. But he was slowly dying of heart failure, and every new piece he wrote was a grieving as well for what he would soon lose. The grief in his music helped me get through this awful time. |
