Broccoli Italian Style
A recipe from the Sneaky Kitchen

1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Italian sausage
1/2 medium onion, chopped
3 large cloves garlic, chopped fine
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
black pepper to taste
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 head broccoli, cut into small florets and pieces
1 Tbsp lemon juice, preferable fresh
8 oz. penne
1/4 Cup grated or shredded Parmesan

Bring a large pot of oil to a boil.  When boiling, add penne. 

While water is heating, skin and crumble sausage.  Heat olive oil over medium-high heat.  Sauté onion and sausage until onion is soft and sausage cooked through.  Add chopped garlic, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.  Sauté a few minutes longer; don't let garlic brown.  Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.  Add lemon juice and broccoli and bring back to a boil.  Cover and turn low.  Cook broccoli to taste, don't over-cook. 

Drain penne well when tender.  Add to broccoli.  Sprinkle with Parmesan, stir to blend, and leave over heat for another minute to meld flavors.
