|Golden Cake with
A recipe from the Sneaky Kitchen
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
8 eggs yolks
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup water
1/3 tsp salt
1-3/4 cps pastry flour (sifted)
4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Vanilla
Preheat oven to 375ºF.
Cream butter, slowly add sugar. Add well-beaten egg yolks. Sift flour,
Baking Powder & salt together, & add alternately with orange juice & water. Add Vanilla.
Bake in layers or muffin tins in oven for 25 min. for cupcakes (makes 2 dz.
cupcakes), up to 40 minutes for 2 layer pans. Use Boiled White Frosting; tint it yellow if you wish.
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
3 egg whites
1 tsp Vanilla, Lemon, or Almond Extract
yellow food coloring if desired.
Stir sugar & water until dissolved, boil until thread stage or 246ºF with thermometer.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Very slowly pour hot mixture into stiff egg whites, beating constantly. Add flavoring.
