From Jim Traveler, cohort - sorry, co-host of Great World Chefs :

"Bess:   As you may or may not remember I authored a nasty paper about 'crock pots'.  I said I kept leftover nuts and bolts and screws in my crock pot.  Well I have cleaned it up and the Woolly Bear has told me I going to cook a roast in that pot.  She bought a 2.5 lb. top sirloin roast, some Lipton Onion Soup mix, celery soup, and said, 'Cook'.

I have no clue what to do, Help?    Cooking Jim

PS: Don't tell Chef Al.  He thinks I run things at home."

Ok, we won't tell ChefAl, who undoubtedly never had to deal with hungry kids, a job with a demanding boss, a dirty house, laundry, yard work and a cranky husband all at once - and fix dinner too.  (P.S.  I'm with you.... I'm all for short cuts, but I kept junk --like in "junk drawer"-- in my crock pot for years before I gave it away.)

Best Ever Crock Pot Roast

2 1/2 lb lean beef roast
2 cans Cream of Celery Soup
2 pkgs. of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
4 cups water

Mix soups and water in a crock pot or heavy Dutch oven.  Add roast.  If using a crock pot cook all day on medium.

If using a Dutch oven, bring almost but not quite to a boil on medium heat, then turn heat to maximum low and cook covered for several hours until tender.

If using a covered oven-proof dish in the oven, cook at 350° for about 4 hours.
