| Laundry, Stain Removal & Bluing Page 1 2 3
I have a laundry "trauma". I washed my daughter's pink and dark blue nylon ski jacket and the blue bled onto parts of the pink! Help! How can I get the blue stains out? I haven't put the jacket into the dryer to avoid setting the stain. I have re-washed it with oxyclean with no change in the stain. What else can I do that won't destroy the jacket? Carbona makes a product to remove transferred dyes, but I think it is intended only to be used on white items. I'm stumped....any suggestions?
Absolutely none! This must have had a "dry clean only" label. If it didn't, return it for a refund. This is unacceptable for an item with washing instructions. If it's expensive and she doesn't mind, you could have it all dyed navy, maybe? Does anyone else have any experience with this?
Sorry I don't have any suggestions for removing the dye on this item but I have a way to prevent it from happening in the future. This came from my Grandmother and it really does work! Anytime I have a washable article that is brightly colored (or dark colored with light trim, such as your daughters jacket) I add 1 (one) cup of plain old table salt to the wash cycle and wash in cold water the first time the item is washed. This "sets" the color.
You're not going to believe this! Here's the only item I've had more requests for other than laundry blueing (no luck there yet). MaryAnn writes: "I am looking for a plunger that you can use for hand washing. I had one for over 30 years until I mixed up my hottop sealer. I cannot seem to find one in your catalog." First, you and so many others can find a genuine laundry plunger at Lehman's online catalog. Second, what in the world is a "hottop sealer"?
