I bought a metal brush cleaner at a flea market and I was wondering how old it is.

No telling. Many many years ago a tiny hairbrush cleaner was a giveaway item.  This one had the rounded handle, but smaller, and had round spring wire prongs.  We now have the full size one at Hairbrushes which has, instead of wire, flat prongs.

I have catalogs from the late fifties or early sixties, and they show one for sale; back then in pre-inflation times the cost was only 69ยข.  Then again the average woman clerk, nanny or similar "career" paid only $25 to $35 a week, so go figure.  If your hairbrush cleaner has wire prongs and is tiny, it's an antique... I have one somewhere as a keepsake with a green wooden handle.  I also have one from the sixties or seventies with an ivory wooden handle and wire prongs, which I still use on occasion.  If yours has flat prongs there's no way to date it, but it's recent.
