If my freezer got left open overnight and my Fridge was left open for about an hour (I'm not quite sure how that happened both in the same weekend!) will the food still be ok?  Most of the meat in the freezer was still hard, I threw away the stuff that felt soft.  And I didn't have a lot in my fridge anyway.  Mostly condiments, fruit, milk, etc.  My friends said it would probably be fine, but I wanted to get a second opinion!  You can e-mail me at jamie4932003@yahoo.com  Thank you!!

I would say that the fridge should be fine, but check for mold or sour milk before using.  The colder and fuller it was, the less problems; I keep a refrigerator thermometer on the inside of the door to be sure I'm at 40 °.   It sometimes takes me almost an hour to give the fridge a good cleaning and organizing any more!

One other precaution, if you had any leftovers with protein or sauce, two days old or more, toss them.

On the freezer, if you threw away anything that wasn't mostly crystals and semi solid, you're fine.  Veggies and fruits save better than meat, and they save better than poultry, seafood, fast food or prepared dishes.  I've experience with this, living in hurricane zone.
