refrigerator dill pickles

I recently made refrigerator dill and I have been experimenting for about 5 years.  I use dill, kosher salt, alum, peppers, pickling spice and garlic.  they taste great but the last batch had 'wrinkles"( and they were not as crunchy)  Is this caused by too much salt???
