I just read your article on Allapattah and enjoyed it thoroughly. This was my neighborhood for many years. I grew up there, went to school there (Comstock Elem. and Jackson High as well as kindergarten at the YMCA). The story was very good. I could go on forever about the good times I had in Allapattah in the 50's & 60. Thank you for bringing back fond memories

HELLO to you Jim Reato,

Too many years have gone by.....Hello to you and your family. How is Theresa? Remember 7th grade at Allapattah Jr. High and especially Mr. Jones out in/at the Band Box???

If I'm not mistaken, my kids went to school with Reatos. Wasn't Mrs. Reato a redhead with freckles?  Believe we used to cross our kids at 22nd Ave together. Did you know Elizabeth (Beth) Metcalf? Mark? Cathy?

We're at 22nd Ct between 28th and 26th. We delivered newspapers there, and sold Fuller Brush, can't remember if Reatos' were customers or not but Betty Parrish was - remember her?

I also seem to remember an airplane part falling off a few years ago, and going through that house on the corner, believe it was yours.

You're right, the house on the corner was another mom at that time, her kid went to school with Beth. Lost Beth 22 years ago in a traffic accident. Remember Parrishes?

Are these the same Parrishes who went to Comstock Elementary School?

My mother, Florence Fowler, taught (mostly 3rd grade) there from 1950 until she retired in 1970 (the year I graduated from the University of Miami). Mom's room, the last few years, was on the first floor, on the Northeast corner, right below Miss Butlers' room.

Sorry to hear about Beth. Yes we knew the Parrishes very well, in fact my sister still communicates with them.

I knew Sandra, Linda and Wayne Parrish - seems there were a dozen of those kids - are we thinking of the same family - living on 22nd ave? If so, I'd love to know what happened to them all.

Betty Parrish is still an occasional customer for Watkins and Fuller Brush, we ship stuff to her sometimes but usually her son (Tommy??) comes by to pick her stuff up. How about I include your email in our newsletter as there's lots more memories coming up.
