I thoroughly enjoyed your article on Orange Blossom & Tropical Holidays

I was searching the web for calamandon oranges and bumped into your article. It is a well written and concise account on the Orange Blossom industry and history, specially the Orange Blossom Express train. Last but not least, I enjoyed your recipes.

I wanted to also report that the citrus canker program is now salvaging healthy trees, so there is certainly hope for our Orange Blossoms!

If you have a subscriber list, I would like to be placed on it... Thanks and keep up the great web-page!

Thanks so much! If you enjoyed that one, depending on where you live and how long you've been here in Dade County, you might also like to view some of the related stories listed in our links.
Unfortunately, the Citrus Gestapo came through our neighborhood shortly after I wrote this article and cut down our calamandon, giant kumquat and thornless key lime trees, although they weren't diseased in the least. I didn't realize there were so much citrus in our neighborhood; I'm seeing walls and roofs and hadn't seen in years!

I will have to state that the entire crew were very nice, and extremely careful about not messing up the rest of the garden surrounding the trees. While the men worked, a friendly, sympathetic lady, apparently hired for that purpose, apologized, cooed and consoled in both Spanish and English.

Last Christmas, sadly, I had to make do without the fragrance of orange blossoms or my own natural flower and orange/green-globe decorated trees. But my son, who was still here taking some classes, built me a gorgeous curving rock wall in their place, surrounded by flowers, ferns, bromeliads, papyrus, bananas and other goodies, ending in a bird bath with its own watering source, something which the neighborhood birds have taken full advantage of during our recent drought conditions. This has been a great consolation to me, as you can imagine.
