Y'all just keep bringing back such wonderful memories. I was born in Miami, Nov 42 at Memorial Hospital. The family moved to Tampa sometime or other but moved back to NW 18th ave and 56th street when I was about between 3 & 5. My 1st memory is going to that house. We lived there until about 53 or so and moved to NW 18th Court and 127th Street.  So you can see all of my childhood and teenage memories are of the worderful day of Miami.

Hi I posted a few days ago asking if anyone out there knew anymore history about Miami, Florida in the 50's 60's, There was a private(family owned ) Dairy Farm that had their own Ice Cream Store on the site. They also had pony rides for the children. The Ice Cream was made from their own milk cows. Does anyone remember the name of the Dairy Farm, I think it was the named from the owners last name. Thanks

Cheryl

We arrived in the very late 50's with a small daughter with a mania for both pony rides and ice cream, and frankly, I never heard of it.  It surely must have been gone by 1960?

There was a pony ride not too far out on 8th St or Tamiami Trail, and one on NE 6th Ave at the south edge of North Miami Beach, but neither was a dairy farm, nor did they have ice cream.  Help, anyone?

It was on the outer parts of Miami, going to Hialeah, Hopefully more will remember now, my cousin that lived in Hialeah went there all the time and he can't remember the name either, I do know it was the name of the people that were the owners.  The time had to be around 1954------1962.

Only dairy I remember out that way was the White Belt Dairy but don't remember the Ice Cream or pony rides. All the cows were black in the front and back with a big white band around their middles.  My older sister is due back from a trip tomorrow so I will email her and ask if she remembers anything.

There were pony rides on 79th Street. It was north of 27th avenue, I would have to say it was across the street from where Woolco was, close to that People's bank, which amazingly is still there! I can vouch for the ponies because I rode them.

They had 2 tracks, slow and fast, naturally I opted for fast. I always liked FAST! I was a regular at Michelle's Kartway, and Hialeah Speedway during my early early teens and on until not too long ago. I think the last time I was at Hialeah Speedway was in 1997, I actually got to drive in a couple of races. They had a program called run what you brung. It was fun, but I never made it to Nascar.

For those who may not know this, Hialeah featured some top name Nascar drivers, such as Donny Allison and a few others.

I remember Marcella's restaurant. It was owned by Marcella Aiken. Her daughter Linda went to school with my sister. She also had a restaurant in Freeport Bahamas

I think I know the one you're looking for.  It was out 36th st., past the airport.  I think it was "Bressle's Dairy".... A big, white building that was always cool inside.  And there were pony rides, in a ring out front.

There was a Milam Dairy, but I'm not sure if that's the one.  It was located in the SW area.

The name of the dairy that your asking about was called  "DRESSELL'S DAIRY". I was born in Miami in 1947, it was always a treat to go there and have ice cream and ride the ponies. I know they were still there in 1964. CBishop
