Cleaning Tips from Fuller Brush Mop & Floor Care Hints: Wet Mops: Note that use of bleach and some other strong cleaners will shorten the life of the mop. Use of vinegar (a really bad idea, by the way, for any kind of floor) will rust out the handle and any metal parts of the mop, and this rust is not covered by any guarantee. If you live in a very humid climate, especially near salt water, your handle will not last as long either, especially if hung to dry outside. Be sure to rinse well and wring as dry as possible to delay this problem. The Tile Council of America recommends against vinegar which eats at the grout, making it more porous and easier to stain, and eventually may dull the glaze on the tile. It will corrode granite or marble glazed flooring quite rapidly and vinegar must never be used on this type of floor. We recommend either Fullsan or aerosol Tile Cleaner for tile floors. Dry Mops: The chemically treated dry mop #139 should rarely if ever be washed. First, it is a different kind of cotton with open end strands. Secondly, washing will remove the chemical treatment that helps pick up the fine dust and lightweight hairs and fibers. Simply shake well between uses and before putting it away, and ignore the change in color. With time, you may wish to renew the treatment with Duster Spray. If the mop gets into something sticky or smelly or you decide you just have to wash it, do so gently by hand, and rinse well. Do not put it in the washing machine! Squeeze out as much water as possible and lay flat to dry. When dried, shake to fluff the fibers and spray well with duster spray to renew the treatment. Lay aside for a while so the Duster Spray absorbs into the fibers. If you use the D.
C. Polisher (wet or dry), just throw the cover into the washer.
Again, use of bleach will reduce its lifespan. Dry on low heat or on the
clothesline. |
