Mosquitoes
& other Creepy-Crawlers Spread Illnesses
HINT: The
West Nile Virus is likely to spread throughout the warmer
weather. See map below
that shows the incidence to date. You can reduce your chances of becoming ill by
protecting yourself and your family from mosquito bites.
- Apply insect repellent containing DEET (N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide)
to exposed skin whenever you are outdoors.
- When possible, wear long-sleeves, long pants and
socks when outdoors. Treating clothes with repellents containing
permethrin or DEET will give extra protection, since mosquitoes may
bite through thin clothing. Do not apply repellents
containing permethrin directly to skin. Do not spray repellent
containing DEET on the skin under you clothes.
- The hours from dusk to dawn are peak mosquito
biting times. Consider avoiding outdoor activities during these
times -- or take extra care to use repellent and protective clothing
during evening and early morning.
- Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing
water. Limit the number of places around your home for
mosquitoes to breed by getting rid of items that hold water.
- Check to see if there is an organized mosquito
control program in your area.

Fulscat Insect
Repellent Gel contains DEET.
Always have
some of each at home, as well as in your vehicles. Don't take
chances. This product also protects against uncomfortable ant
bites when working in the yard. Lyme Disease still is a problem in many
areas. When in brush and woods where deer ticks are possibly found,
wear tight-legged pants and tightly cuffed shirts.
Apply to skin on any point
of entrance - pants and shirt cuffs, waistband
and so on. |
