Dorothy Porter has her facts on Fuller Products memorized, and a good thing. Someone wrote to the Melbourne's 'Florida Today' newspaper help column, stating they wanted to buy stainless steel sponges.

The columnist, Doug Lang, mentioned they could get them from the local rep, and gave her phone number. He goes on to quote Dorothy: "At the moment, they're specially priced at $ 6.99. Each sponge consists of more than 600 feet of continuous stainless steel coiled 40,000 times for increased flexibility and cleaning power.

He goes on to explain: "Porter said she broke into the Fuller business on a part-time basis while working at Kennedy Space Center, before retiring in 2002.  Porter says the principal satisfaction she gets out of her post-retirement calling comes from delivering the kind of personal service Alfred C. Fuller must have had in mind when he started the company 101 years ago."

Dorothy tells me: "I've had 15 orders for the sponges and I know there's more to come. My phone has been ringing since 7-5-07 - inquiries and/or sales. This morning I had a call from a lady in Barefoot Bay way south of here wanting me to send her an application form to sell Fuller Brush."
